As the
Spiel-des-Jahres
had just been announced and Mark K had not yet played the winning title,
we opted to start off with the wonderful Ticket To Ride this week. This
has previously been described in our 19th
March session report.
When we last played this, we thought our next game would
be more cut-throat but, apart from one or two occasions, it didn't turn
out to be. I had planned on concentrating on Destination Tickets but
managed to get a bit cut off from the West. Having established a good
network in the centre of the board, however, I didn't have any
particularly long routes. However, I tried my best to connect up towns to
maximise my longest route and thought I stood a good chance by the end.
Nige managed to beat me by two links and this combined with an early
concentration on six stage routes gave him more than enough for a good
win.
